Wanting a quick bite to eat we stumbled into this place. Of course my sister has been here before and recommend it.
It was late when we arrived, but there was no lack of service. We were treated and shown to our table and promptly brought chips and salsa. Our waiter brought the drinks right afterwards. They have authentic Mexican waters that tasted good. I was actually surprised to find that in the middle of TN.
The menu was extensive and you should be able to find something to eat here. I chose one of the combination plates that came complete with rice and beans, enchilada, and a taco. The food came out hot and fresh and tasted good. -

Skimpy on booze in mixed drinks. Feel ripped off. Food is good and so is service. Authentic Mexican food. I May return for the food, but not sure I can recommend it overall.

It is an honor to be the first to rate La Carreta. We've passed this new location a few times and finally decided to pop in and try it! Score!
Lovely cozy setting, two booths in the center of the restaurant give off a lovely secluded vibe and would make for a more intimate setting.
Good healthy helpings of chips and salsa started the fare and as we were trying this out for the first time we went all out and ordered the queso and jalapeños. Salsa has a mild kick to it and a pleasant mix of all the other salsa ingredients. Should it not be quite to your taste, no fear, there is actually a salsa bar in the middle of the restaurant so you can be sure to find one that's just right for your taste.
After spending a few minutes perusing their large menu, I ordered chicken fajitas and my husband ordered chimichangas. Both were as good as the appetizer although we do like our veggies cooked and the onions for the most part were on the raw side for us. All personal opinion I realize.
Over all I highly recommend La Carreta - solid food, great cozy atmosphere and welcoming, helpful, staff. -

I'm disappointed.. they don't have homemade corn Tortillas .. it's most Tex-mex.
As Mexican i didn't see anything that make it authentic Mexican food. Only Tex mex.... not authentic at all -

I regret sooo much not taking pictures of my food, but I was hungry and it was so tasty that I couldn't wait to get it in my tummy.
Being originally from Mexico gives me the privilege to be very critical (most of the time in a very constructive way) about the food, the taste and the authenticity of it, and let me tell you that they are Mexicans as they can be.
I ordered a "molcajete", and this one actually comes with shrimp, chorizo, steak, chicken, onions, bell peppers, and pineapple, and they also give you on a different plate rice, refríes beans, and some salad, I also ordered a couple of fried jalapeños, and OMG it was delicious, and thy even give a bunch of tortillas, so for the price was real good.
I tried to get tamarindo water but they didn't have it that day (sooo sad), so I got horchata, and seriously I felt like I was in Mexico eating with my family.
